When you are counting objects, you go “0,1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,A,B,C,D…”.

When asked about a bus schedule, you wonder if it is 16 or 32 bits.

When your wife says “If you don’t turn off that darn machine and come to bed,then I am going to divorce you!”, and you chastise her for for omitting the else clause.

When you are reading a book and look for the space bar to get to the next page.

When you look for your car keys using: “grep keys /dev/pockets”

When after fooling around all day with routers etc, you pick up the phone and start dialing an IP number.

When you get in the elevator and double-press the button for the floor you want.

When not only do you check your email more often than your paper mail, but you remember your {network address} faster than your postal one.

When you go to balance your checkbook and discover that you’re doing the math in octal.

When you dream in 256 pallettes of 256 colors.

Facts of Life

Women love to talk on the phone. A woman can visit her girlfriend for two weeks, and upon returning home, she will call the same friend and they will talk for three hours.

Women will drive miles out of their way to avoid the possibility of getting lost using a shortcut.

Women do NOT want an honest answer to the question, ‘How do I look?’

PMS stands for: Permissible Man-Slaughter (or at least men think it means that). PMS also stands for Preposterous Mood Swings and Punish My Spouse.

Cruise on the broads

This afternoon I’ve been on a cruise on the Norfolk Broads on a Mississippi paddle boat. It was a lovely afternoon for it. Not too hot or sunny but really pleasent. The captain did a commentary too telling us about the different broads, buildings and wildlife. There were a lot of different birds about with their chicks. It was lovely to just relax on the boat after quite a hectic week. I throughly enjoyed it!

Transport Museum

I’ve been to a transport museum this morning. While there I saw a lot if the old buses and trams and an old train. It was really good. We could have unlimited rides on the train, trams and a trolley bus too. I don’t know why they don’t bring back the trams and trolley buses. Of course it would cost a lot to put the infrastructure back in place for them, but they are so much quieter, better for the environment and probably cheaper to run in the long run. It makes sense to me at this time when they are going on about being environmentally freindly with everything. Even electric cars have been coming back again over the last few years. The people at the museum were saying how reliable the trams and trolley busses that they have are. It made us laugh when we came out again to come back to the hotel and our coach had broke down so we had to get on the other one with the other group. It just proved a point that things these days are not built to last!

I took some photos (haven’t fixed the date on my camera yet though!) which I’ll upload at weekend when I have net access again.

Flixton Aviation Museum

I’ve spent some time at the aviation museum in Flixton this afternoon. It was really interesting and I got to take lots of photos.

Unfortunately we didn’t really have enough time there. I would have liked to have had a couple of hours minimum there and we only had an hour, so it was pretty much a quick dash around to look at as much as possible and to take photos of as many things as possible so for every photo I took I also took one of the information plaque so that I can read it later.

I’ve just imported the photos to my computer and I’m laughing at myself. I had noticed that the date and time on my camera were wrong so I changed it. I’ve put the date in the wrong format though, so the dates have come out as 09/05/2013 instead of 13/05/2009. I’ll have to remember to correct that again before tomorrow! At least the time is right even if the date is wrong though!

There’s no entertainment on tonight, so after dinner I’ll probably have a bath and an early night. Going to go and have a drink or two with a few people now. They said they would save me a spot in the hotel bar. It’s really good that everyone is getting on so well. It is making it a great holiday. In fact, I’ll probably book another of these for later in the year to get away for a few days again.

Bury St Edmunds

I’ve gone to Bury St Edmunds today. I’m currently enjoying the peace from the hustle and bustle of the town center while sitting in the beautiful abbey gardens. There are so many flowers that have been carefully laid out that it really is a mass of colors. There are a lot of birds around too which are all singing. I’ve not got far enough through the gardens yet to get to the abbey itself. I can hear singing coming from somewhere. I’m going to go and investigate and see if I can find both where it is coming from and also where the abbey itself is.

Sandringham

I’ve been to Sandringham Estate today which is one of the Queen’s county retreats. We got to go around a bit of it and of was really nice to see. There were a lot of impressive tabastries and paintings as well as a huge amount of ornaments. The gun room was impressive too - wall to wall with cases with rifles in that belonged to all difeerent members of the royal family.

We also got to go and have a look around the church on the estate. That is only small but is really impressive with a silver pulpit and altar as well as beautiful stained glass windows.

I’m a bit dissapointed though - I took a lot of pictures and none of them came out. It was really sunny and that must have affected it. Oh well nothing I can do about it so no point worrying.

Just relaxing now before having dinner at 18:30 then we are going to play bingo again before tonights live act comes on. I wonder what is for dinner and what the entertainment will be? Will find out soon enough anyway.
