Bingo!

Posted by peterska2 on May 11, 2009 in Holidays 2009 at 10:23 pm

Part of tonights entertainment was playing bingo. Now I’ve not played bingo for probably 3 years maybe more. Anyway, I decided that I would have a bash and bought a book of tickets to play. I was gutted when I only needed one number with the first game, but then I won the second game and got a prize of £9! I was only one number away in the lay game too which had a prize of £20. I think everyone else would have thought it was fixed if I had of won that one too though so it was probably a good thing I didn’t ;)
The entertainment is still going on, but after a few drinks and knowing that I have to be up early every day, I’ve decided to call it a night. After all, breakfast is at 7:45 tomorrow as we have to leave at 9:15 to get to Sandringham. I really don’t want to be the one that holds the coach up!

I must remember to pick up the camera tomorrow before leaving.

Oh tea was lovely! I had the breaded mushrooms, pork with braised red cabbage, and caramel apple pie and custard. Cooked breakfasts are on the menu every day too, so I doubt I’m going to want much lunch any day! That’s great though - I’d rather fill up on free food and have that do me all day than have to pay lots for lunches too as they are not included.

I’m getting on well with the other people that I’ve mingled with so far, which is great. Just a shame that there are no decent single guys - there’s only really one if I wasn’t fussy, and he can talk for Britain! You just can’t get a word in edgeways and you can hardly get rid of him once he starts! I really hate people like that!!!!

New computer bits!

Posted by peterska2 on Mar 9, 2009 in Uncategorized at 11:41 pm

Well, they are not really new, but they are new to me. I don’t do new computer components often, and when I do it is only really hard drives. The rest I salvage from other people’s old computers.

Today I went doing a maintenance job for someone who had got a new computer but needed the CDRW drive and Floppy Disk drive from their old computer putting into the new one. While I had the old computer in pieces they mentioned to me that they were going to be taking the old one to the scrap yard so I asked if I could take some of the bits from it first.

I came away with a motherboard (unknown brand so not much use as getting drivers will be very difficult), an AMD Semperon processor, 1GB RAM, and a 200GB HDD as well as some assorted cables and case fans.

I’m looking forward to being able to swap out some of the oldest parts of my PC and replace them with these newer parts. If nothing else, it was the RAM I really wanted. I’m quite attached to my really old AMD XP processor.
