Quitting Smoking Diary at 4:39 pm
Well it’s been almost 2 weeks now and although there have been a few times that I felt like giving in, I haven’t done and I’m feeling really proud of myself for that. My quitting buddy also hasn’t given in, so it’s a double result.
Aiming to make it to 3 weeks now!!

It seems that it is too early to give up my rituals that I have for having a smoke. I always smoke outside, never in the house. So here I am eating a mint and blogging from the garden because it felt too weird not needing to go outside! I can almost see this becoming the new ritual for me!

Quitting Smoking Diary at 5:14 pm
Well, it’s now day 2 of my quest to be a non-smoker. Yes I know it’s only been just over 11 hours, but because I work nights it counts as day two as I’ve been to bed and woke up.
I’ve got terrible cravings. Feel quite shaky. It’s definitely that need for the morning smoke that I’ve had for the last five years kicking in. I am totally glad that I got though lozenges now because I am definitely going to need to have one before I can start to function normally. I just hope that I don’t get dependent on them instead. Mind you, at nearly £15 a box of lozenges I am sure not going to be able to save up much if I keep having to buy more!
I think today is going to be an interesting day. Keep checking back for updates!

Well it’s just over 5 hours since I had my last smoke. I’ve had quite a lot of cravings already even though I don’t really smoke that many every day. The worst thing so far though has been driving without having a smoke in the car. I can see that being the most likely place that I fall down.
I decided that seeing as I am already having cravings that it would be a good idea to do something about it, so I’ve been into the chemist and spoken with the stop smoking person in there. I was thinking about getting some patches but am always wary because I’ve had allergic reactions with patches before. In the end I settled for the lozenges. They taste awful! If nothing else I’ll want to get over my cravings quick to stop needing a lozenge!!!
Of course it’s still too early to tell if I’ll actually make it to being a non-smoker, but so far so good. I haven’t caved in and gone to the paper shop for some smokes yet so that can only be a good thing.
I’ll keep you posted!

Quitting Smoking Diary at 7:41 am
At 6am this morning I had my last smoke. I’ve decided that it is time to quit, so I’m going for it. As luck would have it, one of my online friends has also decided the same and had her last smoke yesterday.
It’s not really going well so far - after only 90 mins I’m ready for a smoke and really want one. I can see me having to get some patches or something when I go into town later today.
I’ll keep you posted on my progress. Last time I tried to quit I managed about 4 weeks before everyone was fed up of me being irritable and in the end I started smoking again. The thing is that the £10 - £15 a week that I spend on smokes would be a great addition to my holiday fund. I really want to be able to do a once in a life time holiday across Scandinavia, Iceland, Canada and Alaska. I know that will cost a fortune to do though, but I’m gonna save all the money I would have spent on smokes as well as the money that I save up already.
